NPR's Planet Money is a go to for many economics educators and is certainly one of my favorites. They do a great job of tying what is going on in the world around us to economic concepts we study. There is a spreadsheet that compiled free online media sorted by economic concept and Planet Money is featured prominently on it. New episodes come out on Monday and Wednesday and are usually around 15 to 30 minutes.

The Indicator from Planet Money is the daily podcast from Planet Money. This one comes in at only around ten minutes an episode but is great for a fun update on what is going on in economics news. Again, it's a great way to see the economics that we have studied in action.

Marketplace's Make Me Smart is hosted by Kimberly Adams and Kai Ryssdal and comes out on weekday afternoons. They focus on how events in the news will impact the economy. I find their explanations easy to follow and entertaining. The hosts certainly do not shy away from sharing their opinion on just about every topic they discuss.

New episodes of Marketplace come out every weekday. Host Kai Ryssdal, who also appears on the aforementioned Make Me Smart, provides an explanation of economics and business news. This is definitely the most news-like program on the list.
