Progressive Photographers
As you learned in our classes on the Progressive Era, progressives were people who tried to reform American society. Progressives tried to reform many areas of America and they tried to do it in many ways. For this assignment, you will become a progressive and document an issue that you feel needs to be fixed.
You are to pick an area of American society, or Thornton society, that you think needs to be reformed. You are then to become a photojournalist, maybe even a muckraker, and document the problem that we are facing. If you can, find/take pictures that emphasize how much this problem needs to be addressed. Your final product will be a collage of four or five pictures collected into a collage and uploaded to Thinglink. Each image must be accompanied by a short description of the image and how it highlights the problem you want to address. We will discuss this assignment more on Friday and use some of the tools required for this project as well. This assignment will be due on Wednesday, September 26th and is worth 25 points.
