Five Truths and a LieLet's begin by finishing up our Five Truths and a Lie activity. Build a WWII BomberDuring WWII, Allied Generals were presented with the diagram above which indicated where the bullet holes on their bombers were found. They wanted to help more bombers return from their missions and had the opportunity to add more armor. The question was where should they add it. They did not have the resources to cover the entire bomber, which also would have made it less maneuverable and fuel efficient. Where would you tell the Generals to put the armor? Please head to Google Classroom to respond. Scarcity in Pop CultureBruno Mars' The Lazy SongPlease listen to Bruno Mars' Lazy Song. Try to keep track of all of the things he could of done today but chose not to. Don't worry if you miss some. Star WarsWhat do we need to make something?Imagine that you are opening a business. What do you need to get it off the ground? Pasta and ScarcityBarilla, a pasta maker, has a problem with scarcity. Please listen to this story from NPR's Planet Money. As you listen, identify what the scarcity issue was for Barilla and how they solved it.

Build a zooToday, along with some of your classmates you will build your own zoo. You must decide what types of animals you wish to include. Please note that you will be working from a list that I will provide and that you only have so much space available in your zoo. Each animal requires a different amount of resources. Please head to the Build a zoo activity on Google Classroom for more information. Five Truths and a LiePlease share six facts about yourself with the class. The only catch: one of them needs to be a lie. Please post your items to Google Classroom. Teach me more about youFor homework, please create a product to teach me about yourselves. It could be a letter, a video, a poster, or whatever else comes to mind. In it include not only what you would like me to know about you but also what I need to know about you. Think about information that tells me not only about you as a person, but you as a learner. Please also consider what you feel I need to know about you as we continue to make our way through this school year. Are there specific things that you think I should know about how school went for you over the past year plus or concerns you have about being back at school? You will submit your product to the Teaching Mr. Raby about you assignment on Google Classroom. This assignment is due on Thursday, February 2nd. But wait, I want to learn even more about youPlease show your family the Family Letter assignment on Google Classroom. I've posted a video and a document that explains more about what they need to do.
Your to-do list
The Economist's TowerLet's dive right into class! You, along with several of your fellow economists, face the following challenge. Using no more than 20 strands of pasta, one yard of string and one yard of tape, you must construct the tallest tower possible that will support a single marshmallow. You have 18 minutes. Good luck! K&W CHARTPlease complete the K&W chart on our class on Google Classroom. I have posted it simply as a question there for you to respond to. K is for what do you know about class and W is for what you want to know a.k.a. your questions. We'll spend today talking about our class but I want you to have the opportunity to drive the conversation as well.
