Some final thoughtsThanks and have a great spring semester!Congratulations you've made it to the end of our course and the end of the semester. It's time to get working on your final. At the beginning of the semester we looked at what your most important values were and we discussed several policy options or philosophies for the United States. Now that we have studied North Korea, the refugee crisis, climate change, and countless issues that you have brought to class during TCB, what do you feel the guiding principles for our country should be when addressing events in this changing world? Your task for the final is to address that issue. You will need to choose one of the policy options we looked at the beginning of the semester, or invent your own, develop two reasons to support it, and find five pieces of evidence that help support your position. There are resources posted to the final assignment on eBackpack that will help you. This final will be worth 5% of the semester grade.

How does that impact us in Maine? How are government workers dealing with the shutdown? How has it impacted them? We've also heard a lot about the politics of the shutdown and border security. Let's hear from someone at the border whose job it is to help provide that security. The New York Times spoke to Sheriff Mark Napier of Pima County, Arizona. As you listen, please note three reasons that the sheriff states that support each side of this issue. Our final

What is being said about the shutdown? Please find three articles about the current government shutdown: one each from the left, center, and right. (There's a hint there: this type of thing has happened before so don't get caught looking up a previous government shutdown.) The All Sides website would be a good starting point to help you find the articles you need or the graphic below. Using the three articles you find, please complete the graphic organizer posted below. Please post nine items on this graphic organizer. As you complete it, also look for what government services are open and which ones are not in operation. Please record this information on the back of the handout. Please find at least two government agencies that are both open and closed at this time. Please submit your work to eBackpack when you are done. This assignment will be worth 13 points.
