AMERICA'S RESPONSE TO A CHANGING WORLD
Your to-do listOne of my favorite podcasts titles their Monday episodes "What did we miss Monday" in reference to getting caught up on all of the news of the weekend that they missed since they only publish Monday through Friday. There are several issues that we should review from vacation. What's going on in Ukraine?First, before you do anything else, head to Google Classroom to the Ukraine and Russia in one word activity. Once there, I want you describe in your own thinking what the situation with Russia and Ukraine is, but only in one word. What would you call it if you were relaying it to someone new to the news? Once you have completed this, I would like to begin work as a class regarding what happened in Ukraine over vacation. Please head to the What happened in Ukraine activity on Google Classroom. In the activity, you will find a link to a Padlet that has been set up as a timeline. Please make five posts on the timeline for different events over vacation. With each post, please include a one sentence summary of the event as well as a link to the news source you used to discover it. Once we have completed the timeline as a class, I would like you to post at least two questions to the Padlet about the past week's events that will help us guide further discussion. A new nominee to the Supreme CourtOn Friday, President Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Please find out the following information about her.
Once you have completed Judge Jackson's biography, see me for the name of another Supreme Court Justice. Answer the same questions for them that I asked you about Judge Jackson so we can compare them. What's coming up this weekFirst off, our schedule is a little different this week. The school originally intended Wednesday to be an Early Release Day for you but because of a change in schedule, you no longer have class that day. The rest of the schedule was not changed because of this so the next time that I will see you is on Friday.
In between now and then, keep an eye out for the State of the Union address on Tuesday, March 1st at 9PM. There is plenty for President Biden to address beyond the normal topics that we would expect any president to discuss.

To gain more insight, let's take a look at recent U.S. military intervention around the world. Please go as far back as 1990 and work your way towards the present. For each example you find, please note the years, the President, and the reason why the U.S. intervened using its military.
