Your to-do listTake some time today to learn more about your classmates. Head to the Our Flipgrid videos assignment on Google Classroom. From there you will open the table I have left you and head to the Flipgrid topic with our videos. Watch every member of the class' video, including me, and take your guess as to what they are lying about. You also need to respond to at least one classmates' video. Maybe share that you share an interest or ask a question about something they've told us about.
Defining our valuesToday, we'll be looking at our Constitution not only to learn the laws of the land but to determine what our most important values are. Please head to Google Classroom to complete the Defining our values assignment. For each of the terms below, I would like you to develop a definition that you feel comfortable with. It could be one that you create on your own or one that you find somewhere. What's in our Constitution? The first step in understanding how our government works is simply expanding your knowledge of what is in the Constitution. The Constitution: it's our guide for how America is supposed to function. While it can be interpreted in many different ways and its authors left both helpful and maddeningly vague statements in it, when we look to solve the United States' problems, this is where we need to start our search. One of the goals of this course is for you to become more engaged citizens and help solve the problems that this country has. If you are going to do that, you're going to need to know what is in the Constitution. Start by heading to the Constitution Facts assignment on Google Classroom. There you will find a series of questions that I would like you to answer as well as copies of the Constitution. Use the clues I have given you to help you find the answers. For example, the Constitution is broken into sections and I have given you some clues about where to find the answers. I will warn you that some of the questions ask how the Constitution is applied today, You'll have to do some extra research for that. Be sure to submit your work to Google Classroom when you are done. Exit ticket: RBGOn Friday, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. The resulting open seat on the Supreme Court creates a debate for this country: when should her seat be filled?
We'll address that question more on Thursday. Before we do that though, please find five facts about Justice Ginsburg and post them to the Justice Ginsburg assignment on Google Classroom. Make note of the source for each of your facts. Your homework: |
