The United States and IndiaUse the CIA World Factbook to compare the United States to India. Use this table to gather your information. All of the data you need can be found in the People and Society section except for the last two which can be found in economy. As you complete the chart, think about which country you would want to live in and why. Please submit your work to Google Classroom when you are done. Comparing Daily Lives in IndiaUsing the Dollar Street Site on India, consider how we brainstormed how we can tell how wealthy someone is when we walk into their home. Walk into the homes of four Indian families and note what you see in nine categories, such as what their kitchen is like or what they use for a toothbrush, phone, or toys, of your choice. You must choose one family from each of the following income groups:
Pollution in New DelhiWhile India shows signs of rapid development, it is also facing an environmental crisis. Specifically, in the last few weeks, we have seen dire reports about the levels of air pollution in New Delhi. Check out the articles from the link to a Google Search on the topic posted in Google Classroom to look for what the impact of this increased level of pollution are. Once you have done that, how would you people in India adjust their lives to help address the pollution. In your response, be sure to justify why you are asking people to change their behavior in that specific manner. Be sure to submit your work to Google Classroom when you are done. Your homework: Climate Change's impact on Maine
Consider the impact of climate change on the planet. What would it be on Maine? Using the same categories we used to look at the world (Oceans, Extreme Weather, Health, Species Migration, Food and Agriculture, and substitute Economy for Conflict and Security). You must have 12 total entries. As you conduct your research please note the impact, what category you would put it in, and what your source is.

Today we are going to turn our lesson around. As opposed to me asking the questions, you are. I am simply going to leave you with the following statement:

It's up to you and your classmates to develop questions about that statement.
While you develop your questions, there are a set of rules you must adhere to. They are as follows.

We might think we know the best ways to help the planet but some of our assumptions may have also lead us astray. Check out CNN's Climate Change quiz and Google Sustainability's Your Plan site (You can see Google Sustainability's full site here.
As you work please note five things you learned that surprised you or ran counter to what you thought you knew or changes you might make in your life based on what you learned. Your to-do listPlease return to your policy options teams and complete your posters. Be sure to submit an image of it to Google Classroom when you are done. Is there common ground?Which policy option do you support?Which Policy Option do you support?: Using the AREAS model (think about when we talked about ice cream) complete the Argument and Reasons sections to explain which of the policy options you support. You will need to include at least three reasons why you chose the option that you did. Please see Google Classroom for all the resources needed for this assignment. (15 points) What do our leaders believe?Pick one of our leaders at the federal level: the President, a Senator, or a member of the House of Representatives. Even consider some of the Presidential candidates (there are multiple in both major political parties though you may not be as familiar with the Republican ones.
Look for their stances on the issues and match them up with the policy option that you feel best matches their beliefs. I would like to to find five pieces of evidence that you are tying to the policy options. If it helps, use the graphic organizer I have posted on Google Classroom.
