AMERICA'S RESPONSE TO A CHANGING WORLD
Your to-do list- Please complete the news quiz on the events of the week of 4/20. This is going to be a little different than our previous current events assignments. This time there is one assignment, eleven multiple choice questions to answer, and no podcast(s) to listen to. You may look up the answers to the questions as you complete the quiz but you can only take it once so be careful. The quiz will grade itself as you take it.
- Instead of documenting your week, I would like you to begin collecting artifacts that could be collected in a time capsule or put on display in a museum to explain what life was like during this time. Please see the Coronavirus artifacts assignment for more information. - Lastly, I would like you to think about an issue that the United States, and maybe the world as a whole is grappling with. The goal of this course is to put you in a position to develop an informed opinion on an issue. We have so many unanswered questions as we move forward. I would like you to develop a position on where we should head form here. Please see the the Civic Action Project: Initial Topic Form for more information.

Your to-do listWe've got a short week this week as we head into a vacation week so we have a slightly shorter to-do list.
- We'll continue with out Up First quizzes but I would like you to only to complete one quiz this week. The trade off is that I would like you to complete it by Thursday the 16th. I will not make quizzes for Friday and Saturday's episodes. - Please be sure to submit your Something fun to do over break assignment to Flipgrid by Thursday as well. Your classmates are counting on you for ideas. I know that I've already heard about some great ideas from you and am looking forward to seeing your talents. - Your Who Gets In? position paper is due as well. I'm giving you until Sunday the 19th to get this assignment done but I would encourage all of you to get it done for Thursday the 16th so you can't take a little more time away from school. I also want all of you to know that I will be around during break if you need anything. Please feel free to contact me. Your to-do listWe'll continue with our the threads over the next two weeks but there are going to be a few changes before break. - For our current events thread, please continue with the Up First quizzes. You only need to do two out of the six quizzes posted for the week. - For our personal history thread, we're going to take a little time off from documenting what we are up to. Instead, we are going to try to help each other out as we head towards break. I would like each of you to create a Flipgrid video in which you teach your classmates something fun that they can do over break to help pass the time. It could be something that they could cook, a game that you play, an outside adventure, or anything else that comes to mind. The only rule is that is may not require a great deal of resources. For example, shopping for cooking ingredients would be ok. Shopping for electronics, instruments, or other expensive equipment is out. Think of it like a $20 limit. Hopefully we can all make our vacations a little more exciting this way. I hope to add a few of my own to help you out as well. This assignment will be due Thursday, 4/16. - Lastly, for our content thread, we are going wrap up our work on immigration. You are the President’s Advisor on Immigration. The President has been presented with seven candidates applying for citizenship to this country. Due to the overwhelming public opinion, it has been agreed that only one of these candidates will be granted citizenship. You will need to turn in two pieces of work for this assignment: a graphic organizer and Please see Google Classroom for more details. The ideal immigrant |
