AMERICA'S RESPONSE TO A CHANGING WORLD
AMERICA'S RESPONSE TO A CHANGING WORLD
There is news for the history books coming out of Panmunjom, South Korea on the morning of Friday, April 27th. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in have met and potentially have come to a number of agreements including ones involving ending the Korean War and the denuclearization of North Korea. This is a day when we drop our lesson plan for the time being and focus on what is going on in the news. It also may be the first time that this class has stopped to discuss good news. Your task to begin class is this: look at the news resources about this meeting that I have posted below. Develop a list of ten things that you learned about the meeting between Kim and Moon. Be sure to note your sources. Once we have discussed the information that we have compiled, please write about your reaction to these talks. What do you think will happen next? Is North Korea being honest or will this process fall apart? Your response should be at least five lines long. (Collins Type I) Please submit your work to eBackpack when you are done. This assignment is worth fifteen points. So what about U.S. and North Korean talks? It looks like those could be coming up but there are a number of aspects of the talks that still need to be agreed to, for example, where will they take place? That's not an easy question. How about Sweden? PRI's The World offers up an interesting case in this episode of their show. Start listening at about 9:05 to hear the story.

Please complete the table on your refugee group. As you research this group, consider whether or not you would let people from this refugee group into the United States and have reasons for why or why not. Write a paragraph stating whether or not you would let them into the United States and two reasons why or why not. Please submit your work to eBackpack. Don't forget about your work on where your family is from.Gold 1- Due Friday, May 4th
